John Hall
John Hall is a Research Professor of Sociology at the University of California – Santa Cruz and Davis whose scholarship bridges weberian and social phenomenological approaches based on a theorization of social temporalities and modes of enactment. He has applied this synthetic strategy of analysis to apocalyptic social movements, climate change, religion, and theorization of the civil sphere. His published books include: The Ways Out: Utopian Communal Groups in an Age of Babylon (Routledge, 2 nd edition, 2020) and Apocalypse: From Antiquity to the Empire of Modernity (Polity 2009).
